Your Questions, Answered

  • What is Core Cult?

CORE CULT is a boutique studio in Richmond where Pilates becomes an obsession—that’s why we call it a Cult. Mat-based by design, our classes use inventive, signature-choreographed movements to deliver real results, fast. Deliberately small, fiercely focused groups give you real-time guidance and tailored corrections. No two classes are alike: sound evolves, sequences shift, every session hits — relentless, addictive, unmistakably Core Cult™.

  • Mat Pilates is the ultimate test of strength, control, and body awareness. No springs, no assistance—it requires you to fight gravity and control your own bodyweight entirely on your own. Every movement demands precision; every muscle is engaged. You cannot hide if your core isn’t firing, and there is no momentum to cheat with. Unlike machines, the mat exposes weaknesses, builds raw control, and teaches mastery you can carry into life—without depending on a machine, you can practice anywhere, anytime. Joseph Pilates started here, with the mat as the foundation; the Reformer was always a tool to support, not replace, real strength. Originally designed during World War I as a rehabilitation tool for injured soldiers, springs provided support and resistance so they could strengthen and move while confined to a bed—long before it became a fitness machine and a centrepiece of today’s popular “Alo, Pilates, Matcha” trends. At Core Cult, we honour the original vision: the mat is unforgiving, relentless, and transformative. The mat forces true bodyweight resistance, constant engagement, and absolute precision. While Reformers can assist or mask weaknesses if misused, real control—and transformation—happens on the mat.
